The 73rd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 73), opened on 18 September 2018 at the UN Headquarters in New York, under the theme, “Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies.” Financing Alliance for Health:

  • Co-hosted our first UNGA side event, where the Communities at the Heart of UHC campaign was launched
  • Participated in the Rockefeller Foundation’s 17 rooms SDG Challenge to discuss potential priority initiatives that could move the needle for each of the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Participated on the judging panel for SOLVE MIT, where solvers showcased innovations around the theme “Front Lines of Health Challenge”.
  • Attended the Convergence side event where their annual report was launched and updates on the blended financing landscape provided.
  • Attended Rockefeller Foundation’s “Engaging with China in the development context: lessons from experience” interactive session. The goal was to understand China’s international development agenda and approach as well as for Financing Alliance to explore the feasibility of debt conversion/ debt swaps for some of our priority countries.
