Financing Alliance for Health Announces CEO Transition and Incoming Leadership
Nairobi, Kenya – The Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) today announced a leadership transition as Dr. Angela Gichaga, who has served as CEO for the past 8.5 years, steps down from her role. Effective from 16th September 2025, Soleine Scotney and Sizwile Sibindi have been appointed as Interim Co-Chief Executive Officers to guide the organization into its next chapter.
Dr. Gichaga has played a pivotal role in establishing and growing FAH into a trusted partner to governments across Africa. Since its founding, FAH has worked at the intersection of health financing and systems strengthening, supporting countries to sustainably finance primary health care and community health systems.
Under Angela’s leadership, FAH has:
• Mobilized over $500 million in financing to close Africa’s $4.4 billion community health funding gap.
• Supported over 500,000 community health workers, 70% of them women, who provide critical services to underserved communities.
• Reached more than 30 million people across Africa with life-saving health services.
• Trained over 5,000+ leaders in health financing, equipping them to drive reforms within governments.
• Launched Africa Frontline First (AFF) and in partnership, co-deployed the US$ 100 million AFF Catalytic Fund which reached 21+ countries, unlocked an additional US$ 119 million and impacted 400,000+ CHWs
• Positioned FAH as a global thought leader in sustainable health financing and government partnership.
• Supported 22 governments in 16 countries with health financing mechanisms.
As FAH reaches the midpoint of its 2023–2027 strategy, Angela has worked with the Board and Executive Team to create a transition plan that ensures continued programmatic and operational strength in the medium term, , while continuing to learn and reflect on the best long-term leadership model.

- Soleine Scotney brings 15+ years of experience in overseeing Primary Health Care programs. She has led teams to strengthen health systems and advance health financing reforms, through deep collaborations with Ministries of Health in Africa and Asia, and built successful partnerships within the global health architecture. Prior to her current role as Chief Program Officer at FAH, she worked for The Boston Consulting Group, The Global Fund and spent over a decade leading programs at the Clinton Health Access Initiative.
- Sizwile Sibindi brings a deep governance perspective as an international development practitioner with over 20 years extensive experience in finance, operations, governance and organizational leadership across the non-profit and global health sectors. She currently serves as Head of Operations and Risk at FAH, where she has led strategic efforts to strengthen systems and build our fiscal sponsorship platform. Prior to her current role, she served in different leadership capacities at Chemonics International, VSO and World Vision, among others. In 2024, she also served as Acting CEO during the sabbatical period for the CEO, where she successfully guided FAH’s executive operations and partner engagements.
Incoming Interim Co-CEOs Soleine Scotney and Sizwile Sibindi bring a wealth of leadership experience in health systems strengthening, strategy, and finance. Working closely with the Board and the rest of FAH’s senior leadership team, they will ensure a seamless transition while driving forward key priorities in partnership with governments and partners.
