Up to 3 million additional lives per year could be saved by investing in community health programs in Africa.

More than 615 million
people in Africa have no access to basic health services. They face financial, physical and social barriers.

Community Health Workers (CHWs)
are revolutionizing healthcare by providing low-cost, high-quality services at the household level to communities that trust them. Millions of community health workers are not salaried, trained, supervised or equipped.

An additional $4.4 billion annually
is needed for community health programs in Africa - to train, supervise, equip and pay CHWs, while integrating them into the overall health systems.

While Governments
are willing to harness the power of Community Health Workers, financing remains one of the most significant systemic barriers.
We intend to mobilize over $1 billion towards community health in Africa by partnering with governments
Systemic Impact
By partnering with governments, FAH can influence health policies and funding at a national level, leading to broader and more sustainable improvements in health systems.
Sustainability
Government involvement ensures that health financing strategies are integrated into national budgets and policies, promoting long-term sustainability beyond the lifespan of individual projects or external funding.
Scalability
Governments have access to larger pools of funding and can allocate resources more effectively across the entire health system, allowing FAH to maximize the reach and impact of our efforts.
What we do

Government Support
We establish long-term partnerships with governments across sub-Saharan Africa, typically lasting 3-5 years. Our health financing experts support the Ministry of Health in developing and costing Community and Primary Health Strategies, creating investment cases, and mobilizing resources.

Capacity Building
We build the capabilities of government and global health stakeholders to ensure evidence-based resource allocation, better public financial management and program design through :

Financing Mechanisms
Working with donors & the financing industry to design, we develop and deploy financial products to support governments in scaling effective community and primary health programs.

Toolkits and publications
We develop and offer toolkits to support evidence generation as well as publishing papers which then go to ensure evidence-based costing of Health Plans, development of investment cases and ultimately mobilization of financing.
