Today represents a monumental journey towards enhancing Community Health in Kenya. It has been a day filled with celebration, as we came together to inaugurate the Community Health Program. Guided by the visionary leadership of H.E. President William Ruto, this transformative endeavor is dedicated to equipping 100,000 community health champions, empowering them to sow the seeds of enduring well-being throughout their communities.

A Unified Journey to Universal Health Coverage

We have traversed this path together with our Community Health Units for Universal Health Coverage (CHU4UHC) partners in Kenya, working collaboratively to enhance service delivery through integrated and sustainable community health services. The CHU4UHC project is a collaborative initiative, aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage and overcoming programming and financing barriers in Community Health. The platform oversees several programmes adopting a health system strengthening approach to bridging the gaps in service delivery, financing, governance, commodities and supplies and technology, recruitment, deployment, training and development—each aspect interlinked and mutually reinforcing. The platform is supported by Johnson & Johnson Foundation the Kenyan government and The ELMA Foundation.

Financing Alliance for Health remains a proud collaborator in this pivotal journey, a reflection of Kenya’s steadfast commitment to bolstering its community health framework. This initiative is a symbol of hope, envisioning a future where health is not a privilege but a fundamental right, accessible and equitable for all.

Empowering and Connecting Community Health Professionals

Our ambition goes beyond mere facilitation. We are on a mission to empower, connect, and equip Community Health Professionals (CHPs) to uplift the communities they serve. This approach is comprehensive, envisioning a transformation in the conventional paradigms of community health services, enabling CHPs to break the chains and redefine the realm of community health.

Over 100,000 CHPs across 47 Counties will be equipped with the kits and tools needed to render unparalleled services at the household level. They will also be connected through the Electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS), an innovative platform that ensures better data management, communication, and coordination.

Celebrating a New Era of Community Health

The Financing Alliance for Health is ecstatic to be a part of Kenya’s journey in enhancing community health, a cornerstone in achieving universal health coverage. The inauguration of this program symbolizes the dawn of a new era,  where every individual’s right to health is recognized and every community is empowered to flourish. We are celebrating this remarkable progress towards building healthier and more resilient communities in Kenya!  Today’s celebration is not just about a program launch; it is about the commencement of a transformative journey, a journey that promises to make community health synonymous with vitality and equity.
