  • Why it Matters

1 million CHWs deliver life-saving care in Africa

80% are unpaid or underpaid, earning as little as $40/month

70% are women, facing financial insecurity and limited decision-making power

    • High attrition (20% turnover per year) means communities lose access to essential care

    • Gender barriers limit financial decision-making for women CHWs

Lack of credit and business knowledge keeps CHWs in poverty

Through Thrive to Serve, we create a win-win: better livelihoods and stronger health systems.

    Our Thrive to Serve Solution

Thrive: will provide microgrants of $10,000 and business training to benefit at least 6,000 CHWs, focusing on essential entrepreneurial and business skills. Additionally, it will provide capital of US$50 to support CHW-owned businesses, empowering them economically and improving their livelihoods by enabling them to invest in their families.

Serve: Reward CHWs for achieving key maternal and child health results through Results-Based Financing.
