The Financing Alliance for Health participated in the AHBS III symposium this year dubbed ‘’Achieving UHC in Africa: Stronger Together”. The event had over 350 delegates from 52 countries with 31 from African countries represented. This meeting rallied the private sector support for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Africa and the public sector was well represented by 4 Ministers of Health – Hon. Aaron Motsoaledi (South Arica), Hon. Wilhelmina Jallah (Liberia), Hon. Bernard Haufiku, (Namibia), Hon. Silvia Lutucuta (Angola) amongst other key and including H.E. Amira Elfadil, Commissioner of Social Services, African Union, Dr. Toda Takao (JICA) and Iqbal Surve (Sekunjalo Group).
There was also a focus on financing UHC by exploring opportunities for private sector participation though Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and building the right human resources for health (HRH). Read more.
