Financing Alliance for Health and AfHEA Partner to Strengthen Health Financing Leadership and Evidence Across Africa

The Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) and the African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA) has announced a strategic collaboration to advance health financing, health economics, policy analysis, leadership development, evidence generation and knowledge exchange across Africa.

The collaboration brings together FAH’s experience supporting African governments to mobilize, manage and use health resources more effectively with AfHEA’s network of health economists, researchers and policy experts. Together, the organizations‘ will help connect evidence with practical action, supporting African-led approaches to stronger and more equitable health systems.

The collaboration will focus on four areas:

  • Leadership and governance: supporting the Health Systems Financing Accelerator Fellowship Program to strengthen the capabilities of leaders from ministries of health and finance to mobilize resources, improve governance and implement sustainable reforms.
  • Policy dialogue and multi-stakeholder engagement: convening governments, partners and communities to build shared understanding, align priorities and advance health financing reforms for universal health coverage.
  • Evidence generation and knowledge exchange: documenting and sharing experiences, good practices and lessons through policy briefs, case studies, technical notes, blogs, conference contributions, journal articles and other learning products.
  • Joint resource mobilisation: exploring aligned donor engagement, consortium opportunities and funding proposals in areas of shared interest.

By combining implementation experience, technical expertise and continental networks, FAH and AfHEA aim to strengthen the people, institutions and evidence needed to turn health financing priorities into practical, sustainable change.
